IMTU Houserule: What Cost of Living covers

Annual Cost of Living takes care of the following:

  • Food
  • Utilities
  • Telecommunications.
  • Repair and Replacement of clothing and small personal devices.
  • Taxes and Financial Obligations.

Housing is not part of Cost of living. This is especially true in higher TLs like 6 and up. Housing is about CoLx1 in Rural and Towns, CoLx1.5 in Cities, CoLx2 in Major Cities, CoLx2.5 in most expensive cities of the world.

So in Tokyo and New York, Cost of Living Plus Housing is about 80% the monthly income.

A larger chunk of the population live in Major Cities. In a high tech and balanced economy there would about 4d% savings rate for the individual, averaging at a 14%.

What about Taxes? something I should cover in greater detail, in a freely migrating population like in Traveller and the Longer Lifespans people move a few times in their lifetime for greener and greener pastures.
